Tioman

If you’re visiting Malaysia and searching for a few days getaway, Tioman island is a perfect place! A very beautiful wild tropical island completely covered with rainforest. You can enjoy there some activities like jungle trekking (there is one road across the island), surfing, snorkeling and diving (only during season time) and just walking around and watching some wildlife.

Borneo: Mount Kinabalu

Mount Kinabalu is one of the tallest mountains in Southeast Asia. If you visit Malaysian part of Borneo, it’s really worth to visit this beautiful Kinabalu park.

To fully prepare for your trip to Malaysia, you can use VacayKit. There you’ll find lots of useful information on what to pack for Malaysia and other countries.

1. The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula)

To climb the mountain you need two days in total. On the first day you start from Kota Kinabalu town with local bus, shared or private taxi which drives you to the park entrance. There you pay an entry fee and receive a compulsory guide (some local people) who goes with you all the way up. Then you simply start hiking!

Most likely you take the trail starting at Timpohon Gate (6 km). The trail has about 7 stops until you reach your overnight spot named Laban Rata. It is a basic hostel where you can have a cold shower and three warm and very tasty meals: dinner and two breakfasts (a small one at 2:30 am and a big one upon return at about 9 am). It depends on your trekking skills and physical endurance, but on average you arrive in Laban Rata in 5-6 hours after start. Some people try to get there as fast as possible then take some rest, some people do regular stops for snacks and water. I personally prefer the latter way, so I can enjoy the trail without stressing too much.

Normandique: Trouville-sur-Mer/Deuville/Blonville-sur-Mer

If you are in Paris and would like to go somewhere for a weekend, I may suggest you a couple of charming towns in Lower Normandy – Trouville-sur-Mer and Deuville. You enjoy there a beautiful beach, amazing seafood, refreshing cidre on a hot day and a wonderful atmosphere of Atlantic ocean (English Channel). It’s a bit hard to get a hotel on a short notice, then you can stay in Blonville-sur-Mer, which is just 10 minutes from Trouville/Deuville by a local bus.

To get there take a train from Paris Gare St. Lazare in the direction of Trouville/Deuville. It takes about 2 hours to get there. On Sunday you’ll find local farmers markets both in Deuville and Trouville, so don’t miss a chance to enjoy real French delicacies!

Beachy Head

When I somewhere read that this place is among top ten famous suicide spots in the world I just wanted to get there. Finally, after some conference in London I decided to take a day off and visit this beautiful place called Beachy Head.

To get there you need to take the train from London Victoria to Eastbourne. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there. Then go through this nice town in the direction of the beach side. Once you get there, turn right and continue walking. Sooner the road gets steeper and finally you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the English Channel.

I was lucky with the weather and the atmosphere was very special there. I hope you will feel this through the photos.

You can make this walk during one day, so to finish it you can turn right few minutes later after reaching the Belle Tout Lighthouse and continue walking. On the way you can catch the bus 12 (“coaster”) to return to the town. At the end of the day sun showed up and my mood has changed. To celebrate life I had my best fish and chips at “Harry Ramsden’s”
